Roadmap & Limitations

khata.tech is under active development. Rather than bury a caveat on every page, here's every current limitation in one place — check here before assuming something's a bug, or before committing your whole workflow to a feature that isn't built yet.

Tax & compliance

• VAT is a flat default rate, not itemized. Sales applies one workspace-wide default tax rate to new invoices — there's no per-line-item tax override, no VAT-exempt item flag, and no VAT breakdown report. If your business needs itemized tax handling, verify it works for your case before relying on it.

Payments

• No online payment gateway. No eSewa, Khalti, or card processing built in. "Received payment" (on a sales order) and "Mark as paid" (on a purchase order) record that payment happened — they don't move money. You're taking payment outside khata.tech and marking it received after the fact.

Reporting

• No profit & loss statement. Ledger gives you balance per party, not a business-wide P&L.
• Exports exist on Sales History only. Bulk print, CSV, and PDF export are available from Sales → Sales History. Purchases and Ledger don't have export yet.

Inventory & locations

• Single implicit location if you don't set up warehouses. Stock Transfers and Warehouses exist (see Inventory), but if you never create one, everything is tracked as one combined pool — which is fine for a single-shop setup, worth knowing if you're planning to expand.
• No goods-receipt step separate from confirming a purchase order. Confirming records the stock-in directly — no partial-delivery tracking against one purchase order yet.

Contacts & CRM

• Contacts is a party list with balances, not a CRM. No lead pipeline, no follow-up reminders, no customer segmentation (e.g. wholesale vs. retail).

Team & account

• No team-invite or role-management screen. Every logged-in user in a workspace currently has the same level of access — there's no owner/manager/staff permission split yet, despite the Advanced settings danger zone being owner-labeled in the UI.
• No billing or subscription page. khata.tech doesn't currently have paid plans or seat limits to manage.
